The
Script
Foundry

Origins

The Script Foundry is a new theatre/film writing group formed by Nick Fletcher, an independent film maker and screen writer together with Phil Tong, a local playwright and once a student at the University of Sussex. Both Phil and Nick  work in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Who can get involved?

The group is actively seeking new members who are serious about taking their work as playwrights and screenwriters to the next level.  We would like you to tell us something about yourself as a writer via the form below, to then submit a sample of your work via pdf  after we contact you and then to agree to meet with us so that we might find out a bit more about you as a writer and as a possible future  member of this creative group.

He's had nine plays premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe since 2000 in addition to work produced in London, Paris, Milan and Eastbourne.

Now writing full-time he was, until 2014, Director of Drama at the City of London Freemen’s School and  taught a great many students who have gone on to successful careers in theatre, tv and film including Andrew Garfield and Kelly Reilly.

His play, 'Sheep Love To Die' was professionally performed at The Printers' Playhouse in January 2024.

He has  taught students from Year 1 to Post Graduate level within his teaching career.

He is a founding member of this group and was a member of the Page2Stage group at the Printers Playhouse in Eastbourne between 2021 and 2024.

During that time he was also a member of Sussex Playwrights where his work was regularly aired and shared.

His work written for Young People’s Theatre has been published by TreePress and ScriptStore.

Nick has spent the last twenty five years working in the independent film industry as a writer/producer and director. He began as a producer for Ghost Films, making the $1m anthology feature film, Tales of the Fourth Dimension. The episodic nature of the film attracted interest from Granada Studios with a view to using the feature film to promote a series along the lines of The Twilight Zone and Tales of the Unexpected (which Granada already had in its stable at the time). Upon the studios amalgamation with LWT, along with the subsequent change in product strategy, the series idea was not pursued, although the feature film was completed and distributed on DVD by Blue Dolphin Films.

Nick’s next project was working for Laidback-films Ltd, writing, producing and directing the feature film, Monsoon Tide, a $1m mystery drama set in India. The film reached the finals of many film festivals around the world and was ultimately picked up for worldwide distribution by House of Film in Los Angeles.

Nick has attended many masterclasses in screen-writing held by established writers and script gurus such as Robert Mckee and Charles Harris. He has also worked on many short films in many various roles.
